This space has been created to show the violence and deliberate killing of people in Iran after the presidential elections on the 12th of June 2009. Principally it is dedicated to the victims of shootings and people tortured to death in detention centres. If you have any information on these cases, please send them to iranbodycount@gmail.com. If you do not wish, we will not publish names and sensitive details.

Mehdi Sattar Nasab

This young man's name was Mehdi Sattar Nasab. He was arrested two months ago and his family had no news about him. Finally his brother recognised him on a photo even if he his nose was broken and his body swollen. His family was told that he was buried in one of the nameless graves in section 302 of Beheshte Zahra cemetery in Tehran.

  1. The young doctor stationed at Kahrizak for national military duty in the aftermath of the uprising of June 2009 has been pronounced dead. According to http://www.mowjcamp.com/article/id/64712 Ramin Pourandarzjani was found dead at his rest-place in the medical building of Tehran's security forces. Authorities classify the cause of death as heart attack while asleep. Dr. Pourandarzjani had been detained for a week after a Kahrizak victim's death in order to compel him to classify the victim's death as Meningitis
