Neda Agha Soltan

Neda Agha Soltan - ندا آقا سلطان

shot June 20, 2009 on the street (Kargar Avenue), born in 1982. The man with grey hair beside her in the clip is her music teacher Hamid Panahi, some people were telling it was her father, but it has been dismissed. She stayed behind the bulk of the demonstrators while speaking on her mobile phone and was shot in the chest by a basiji on motorcycle. She was a graduate student in philosophy, an aspiring and talented musician and singer, she studied also tourism management, she loved to travel, she studied Turkish language. More information and details around the story and its aftermath available on wikipedia here.

She was buried in Behesht Zahra June 21st. Her memorial service was scheduled for Sunday from 5:00 to 6:30pm in the Niloofar mosque مسجد نیلوفر in Abbas Abad but cancelled due to orders from the authorities. Her family was further harrassed by the authorities, and the video with her death has been dismissed as fake and her death as prepared. Here there is the video interview with the medical doctor and writer Arash Hejazi who was accidentally on the spot and tried to save her life. Later he has been accused of her murder.

Her beautiful face covered with blood became the symbol of the suffering of Iranians and ruthless killing of random unarmed people on the streets.

Rest in peace Neda. You will remain forever in our hearts. And we will never forgive. This government will be drowned in the blood of the martyrs.

UPDATE: the name of her alleged murderer has been published here: the name is Abbas Kargar Javid.
