The name of a next victim of the post-election riots has been revealed.Mahmud Raisi Najafi, another citizen who was beaten down at Azadi Sqr after post election incidents lost his life. It is vital to know that his name has not been announced amongst the dead people.
According to Saham News, widow of Najafi talked about how she lost her husband:” He was a laborer (allegedly cabinet installer). He would leave the house everyday at 6am and would return home early evening. On Khordad 25th (June 15th) he did not return home until 10:30, we were all concerned about him. Around 10:30 someone rang the door bell. Since my husband had a key, I though a stranger is at the door. I asked who is it, and I heard my husband’s voice. He stated because of some problems happened to him, he is not able to open the door.
I went downstairs and opened the door. He was not in a good situation, he was injured and bleeding. I helped him to get in the house. He told me: after work today, I was coming back home from Azadi when I saw people running and some were being chased down. I saw armed forces with batons chasing and beating people. I was going my way when they start beating me down with baton. I told them many times, I’m just returning back from work, I have no idea what’s going on, but they did not listen to me. I went unconscious and when I opened my eyes next time, I found my self in a car.
I tried to find out about my situation when I noticed there are other people with my situation around me which I think they were all dead or were unconscious and I was thrown over their bodies. I start hitting the doors and made some noise when they noticed I was a live. They stopped the car and opened the door. I begged them and told them I have a family and I was returning back from work and I don’t know what has happened to me. It seemed like one of them felt bad and pulled me out of the car and they left. I wasn’t able to stand on my own feet. By making noise and moving my hands I got the attention of some people and asked for help. After a while few people came to me and I asked them where I was. I was told, this place is Hakimie. I told them about my situation and asked for their help to get me a car and take me to my house.
Khadije Haidari added: Mr. Najafi was alive for another 13 days. His body was severely injured, his feet were swollen, and his hands were paralyzed. His stomach was also swollen. We were scared to take him to the hospital; we did not want to get in trouble. During this time, his situation worsened by day. On Tir 6th (June 27th) my father in-law came and we decided to take him to the hospital of Tarafe. We were told sicne they are extremely busy and don’t have any bed available, take him home and bring him back tomorrow. He slept that night, but did not wake up the next morning when we wanted to take him back to the hospital”. Source.

UPDATE: Saeedeh was the sister of Sepideh Pouraghaei, a human rights activist. 44 nameless bodies buried in Beheshte Zahra cemetery
Video with a text in english here, telling the bodies were completely frozen, pieces of ice.
An Iranian lawmaker vowed Saturday to examine allegations that dozens of unidentified people killed in the recent post-election unrest were secretly buried last month in the country's largest cemetery.
The reformist website Norooznews.org on Friday cited an unnamed employee of the capital's Behesht Zahra cemetery as saying that 44 unidentified corpses were buried July 12 and 15 amid heavy security.
Majid Nasirpour, a reformist lawmaker who serves on the parliament's Social Affairs Committee, filed a request for an inquiry, reported the website Parlemannews.ir.
"This news story needs to be verified," he told the website Saturday. "I will ask the committee to investigate the allegations."
The number of those killed during the weeks of violence that followed the disputed June 12 presidential election is a source of controversy: Iranian officials say that as few as 20 died, nine of whom were pro-government militiamen. Iranian opposition figures say that at least 69 have been killed, and Western officials in Tehran estimate the number of dead nationwide to be in the hundreds.
Norooznews, the online incarnation of a respected newspaper shut down by authorities in 2002, said it had obtained the registration numbers of the burial permits to back up its report. The website previously reported that bodies were piled up at a mortuary in southwest Tehran.
Iranian authorities have made a concerted effort to downplay the numbers and accounts of those killed during the unrest, pressuring families not to hang mourning banners on their homes and ordering mosques not to allow memorial services.
Nonetheless, mourners Thursday night marked the 40th-day burial anniversary of Sohrab Arabi, a 19-year-old who was apparently shot in the chest during a June 15 demonstration and whose whereabouts was unknown for almost a month.
They took to the streets and chanted political slogans in the expansive Tehran apartment complex where his family lives, videos posted to the Internet showed.

Amir Mirza
This story has been sent to me from a private source. This young man is an other victim of torture and horrible treatment of people during and after the post-election riots. On one of the last days of June he was badly wounded by Basijis and forcibly arrested near one of the main squares in Tehran, and then sent to prison, accused of several crimes including rioting, spying and plotting to overthrow the regime during the massive street demonstrations and acting as an agent against national security. Supposedly he was identified from a newspaper photograph.
After being tortured and beaten for three days, he was finally released on a high bail paid by his family.
Unfortunately he died some days later (due to complications of internal lung bleeding and meningitis). Even though he was denied the medical treatment he was detained again and tied up on the floor naked till he died while "checking his documents" by security forces at the hospital. His body was kept there but finally delivered to his home when his family paid a huge amount of money and under strict conditions and agreements.

The number of the killed could be even around 365
in Persian: تعداد کشته ها ممکن است تا 365 نفر باشد
A few days after the closure of the Kahrizak detention facility for “sub-standard” conditions, speculations continue about the closure of this facility. Everyday, new dimensions are revealed about the secret conditions of this horrific facility, where many individuals arrested after protesting the election results were beaten and tortured to death.
In this connection, a senior advisor to Mir-Hossein Mousavi, Alireza Beheshti, said yesterday in an interview with the official website of the minority faction in the Majlis that the number and fate of those detained in Kahrizak remain unknown. Beheshti said, “Based on some information that we have received (and still remain unsure about their reliability), a large number of individuals held at the Kahrizak facility were transported to Isfahan two days prior to the facility’s closure.”
Noting that his source of information is “remarks by the families of detainees,” Ayatollah Beheshti’s son commented on the number of recent detainees: “About 1700 names have been gathered, but that does not certainly include everyone; nor do we know how many of those who are detained are alive.”
Also announcing that there are “no exact statistics” of the number of those killed during protests and while in detention, Behesthi said, “I heard the number 365, but if we announce a figure now that is higher than the actual number, we would be accused of waging psychological warfare.”
Mir-Hossein Mousavi’s senior advisor said, “We have information that some of the people who were previously arrested as thugs and violent criminals are now used to guard the detainees.”
Alireza Beheshti also said about those who carry out interrogations are various jails such as the Kahrizak facility, “Other than thugs, some of them belong to various government institutions. Some belong to the Basij. Some are plain-clothed officers that cannot be counted as members of the Basij. Some belong to the Passdaran Revolutionary Guards Corps’ intelligence unit.”
Khatami’s Reaction
Two days before the remarks of Mir-Hossein Mousavi’s special representative at the joint reformist committee to investigate detainee conditions, former Iranian president Seyyed Mohammad Khatami blasted the government and reacted to the Kahrizak facility’s closure.
The reformist former president blasted government authorities’ statements regarding the closure of the Kahrizak facility due to sub-standard conditions, asking, “What does sub-standard mean? Does it mean, for instance, that its air ventilations did not work, or that the washrooms were dirty? No! Crimes have been committed; lives have been lost, and behaviors have been conducted against dear men, women and the youth. If such things transpire at foreign prisons, everyone would be enraged. These issues must be addressed today.”
Seyyed Mohammad Khatami also demanded legal action against those who arrested, tortured and murdered the detainees, noting, “The perpetrators of such behaviors and actions must legally tried, and the rights and reputations that have been violated must be restored.”

The list is growing...
Saed Valadbaygi here gives three new names until now not present in our list. They are:Ramin Ghahramani ( Tehran, 17 July)
Yousef Saleh (Tehran, June or July 2009)
Hossein Akbari (16 years old, on the photo)
I add them but with a question mark.
Maybe the dear readers have noticed that we changed the list on the right side. Now it is in alphabetical order following the surnames of the victims. Some names are given in various spellings since sometimes from a Persian source it is difficult to guess the right spelling (in Persian not all of the vowels are written) and of course errors may occur (for example an error in spelling may cause even one person considered as two). Further confirmations and research on the exactness of the information is needed.
Hossein Akhtar Zand
Hossein Akhtar Zand is a new victim of the Islamic Regime's prisons and detention centres, like the concentration camp Kahrizak. Pictures of his tortured dead body have been published online. Warning, graphic content.
New names from Kahrizak
Hassan Shapoori (student)
Reza Fatahi (student)
Milad (no last name, 16-17 years old boy)
Morteza Salahshoor
Morad Aghasi
Mohsen Entezami
The source of the story in English, in Persian.
After the latest news, Kahrizak detention camp has been closed. Just because it became too known. It is highly probable that the prisoners have only been transferred elsewhere.
Anyway a further confirmation is needed.

Amir Javadifar (before named as Javadi Langeroodi)
This young man is the next victim. He was arrested on July 9th and he died in prizon of his injuries and further savage beating. He was a 25 years old student of industrial management in the city of Qazvin. He was also a musician and a trainee actor. Here Madyar is telling us his story as he has been told by an eyewitness:
The circumstances of the death of this handsome, radiant young man was told me by someone close to him who witnessed
the final days of his life. From that moment, palpitations, grief and anguish have not left me for a second. Visibly, during the riots, he had received heavy blows to his head and face, so that he was gradually losing his sight. He had also been violently beaten on his ribs, which must have caused internal bleeding, in his lungs I think, and finally his death. I was told that when Amir was transported in this state, along with the other detainees, to Kahrizak, the other prisoners did all they could to help him and bring him relief with the meagre means they had. And Amir too, in the evenings, to thank his fellow detainees and despite his condition, brought them water and wafted the
air so that the others would suffer less from the heat (I was very moved on hearing this story). Then finally, the day the detainees were transported from Kahrizak to Evin prison, in the cramped space of the van with its suffocating atmosphere in which one could hardly breathe, he began to convulse and little by little stopped breathing. The officers quickly got him out of the van to take him somewhere else. His story in Persian and English is available here.
More about him in Persian.
During his detention he has been in a hospital for a short time, but transported back to the detention centre where he died. The last photo showing him alive in the hospital suggests that the life of this young man could have been saved!

Sohrab Arabi

There is a new name published, Sohrab Arabi (سهراب اعرابی ) a 19 years old high school student. His family found out about his death after 26 days of search, apparently he has been shot on the 15th of June. Source. More photos here and here are those from his funeral, the 13th of July. Since his death Sohrab became one of the most known martyrs, also because of his mother Parvin Fahimi, a very brave woman. The whole story:
After a 26-day search, Parvin Fahimi finally
discovered that her son Sohrab Arabi, 19, had been gunned down during the peaceful protest march from Tehran's Enghelab Square to Azadi Square on Jun. 15.That day, an estimated three million citizens rallied to publicly denounce what they believed were fraudulent election results reinstating Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the president of Iran.
On Monday, among hundreds of mourners, including family, friends, social activists and ordinary Iranians, Sohrab, who was in his last year of high school and preparing to enter university, was buried at Behesht Zahra Cemetery.
Like Neda Agha Soltan, a now-iconic victim of state violence whose death was captured on video and distributed widely on the internet, Sorhab has qui
ckly come to be known as yet another symbol of the struggle of the Iranian people for freedom and justice. The news of Arabi's death was short and shocking, first appearing in various email listservs.
Though the details of his death were still unclear, and despite a plea by family members not to publicise the developments until they could gain more information about the whereabouts of his body and arrange for a funeral, within a few hours the news of Sohrab's death became the hottest internet topic in Farsi language news sites.
Initially, reports indicated that Sohrab died as a result of torture while in custody in Evin prison, but it seems that he was gunned down during the protest on Jun. 15. Officials have claimed that seven people were ki
lled during that protest and, according to reports have told Sohrab's family that he was one of the seven.According to a family friend, after Sohrab disappeared, his mother, Parvin Fahimi, a social activist and a member of the group Mothers for Peace, went to Evin prison as well as a host of other locations, including to police stations and the Revolutionary Courts, to try to gain information about him.
The family also filed a missing person's report with the police, providing a description of Sohrab. On Jul. 11, Fahimi was told to visit the Shapour police station, where she was shown several pictures of unidentified deceased individuals matching descriptions of Sohrab. Picture No. 12 was of her son (other reports say she was shown about 50 pictures and it took a while to find him, since they filed him in the wrong age group: at the moment of his death he was wearing a beard which made him look older).
A statement issued by the International Campai
gn for Human Rights in Iran claims that while Sohrab was shot on Jun. 15, his body "arrived at the coroner's office on 19 June, five days after his disappearance". According to the statement, it is not clear whether Sohrab died immediately as a result of the gunshot wound to his heart or if he was taken to hospital for treatment first.According to the family friend, who visited with the grieving family members on the evening of Jul. 11, the family was nervous that if the news of Sohrab's death were to be publicized, authorities would thwart their efforts at burying the teenaged victim.
Still, those who got news of the death were quick to spread the word. A short video of Sohrab's mother has since been posted on the social networking site Facebook. The video shows Fahimi holding a picture of her son and approaching those who have been released from Evin for information on his whereabouts.
Monday's funeral was held amid a heavy presence of plainclothes security officials. Fahimi w
as not allowed to address the crowd at length and only provided a few words, explaining that no further memorial ceremonies would be held for her son.In the Shiite tradition, memorial services are held on the third, seventh and fortieth day after death. A family friend present at the funeral, who spoke on condition of anonymity, believes that the family had been pressured to forgo the usual memorial services.
Much attention has been given to the worsening human rights situation in Iran following the disputed elections and the protests. Several statements have been issued by leading opposition groups and figures urging the release of prisoners.
Mehdi Karroubi, a reformist presidential candidate, issued an open letter to Ayatollah Hashemi Shahroudi last week urging him to take concrete measures to release all those arrested in recent weeks before his tenure as head of the Judiciary comes to a close.
Karoubi's office has also set up a call centre where citizens can report on the arrest of their loved ones, or file a report about missing relatives.
The Participation Front, the leading reformist political party, also issued a statement condemning the arrest and continued detention of citizens, especially political prisoners, calling for their release.
According to the head prosecutor of the country, 2,500 individuals were arrested in the aftermath of the elections, with all but 500 now released. Official sources place the number of those killed in the clashes at 20, though human rights activists in Iran believe that both the numbers of those arrested and those killed are far greater.
"The number of those killed must be somewhere in the hundreds, but it is hard to get a real count, because families have been threatened into silence," said one leading human rights activist who spoke on the condition of anonymity.
"The bodies of those killed in the clashes or as a result of torture and beatings after being taken into custody are given to family members on condition that they do not publicise the cases," the source said. "There are many accounts by people who have seen protesters shot, but since they do not know the protesters and cannot provide verifiable information, it is difficult for us to provide a real count."
"The government is non-responsive," added the activist. "They don't respond to family members or to lawyers, so it is a very difficult situation."
While much attention has been given to the scores of political and human rights activists and journalists who have been arrested in their homes or offices, often without a warrant, Sanam, a women's rights activist, believes that "these activists are in a better position, because the world knows them. The unknown individuals who are arrested in protests are in a far worse situation, because their family members often don't even know what has happened to them."
"We need to warn family members that their children could have a similar fate to that of Sohrab's," Sanam said. "If they understand that their children could die in custody or that they may already be dead, perhaps they will pressure officials to release them or to at least provide some reliable information."
On Jul. 9, another protest marking the tenth anniversary of the attack on student dormitories in 1999 drew thousands of protesters to the streets to demonstrate their support not only for the student movement but to voice their objections to the results of the elections.
While the heavy presence of police and security forces on the streets prevented a large crowd from forming, scuffles were reported in major squares of Tehran and other cities. Security forces used batons and teargas to disperse the crowds, arresting many protesters.
According to human rights activists, the lists posted outside Evin prison place the number of those arrested on Jul. 9 at nearly 200.
Meanwhile the International Campaign for Human Rights in Iran has called for an independent investigation into the death of Sohrab, while raising concerns about the "lack of transparency and calculated delay in releasing the information about Aarabi's unexplained death," claiming the handling of this case by officials only raises concern about others who have disappeared in recent weeks or been held in detention with no contact with family members or lawyers.

Letter from Rasul Akram hospital

Here is a letter from a doctor in Rasoul Akram hospital in Tehran, dated from wednesday June 24th telling that during tuesday they accepted 38 patients, 10 of them died. Some of them had more than one bullet in their body, for example a 68 years old man had two bullets in his left shoulder and one in the left side of his belly. From the shots it is evident that they came from the rooftops, for example a 32 years old man has been shot in his back and the bullet came out from his thigh. The Emam Khomeini hospital on wednesday morning claimed 38 dead. Wednesday morning police came to Rasoul Akram hospital with a van and took away all the dead. Many families still do not know that their dearest have been shot. Among the dead and injured there were also youngsters of 15-16 years of age. The personal of the Rasoul Akram hospital staged a protest wednesday morning and gave out information about the violence.

Ashkan Sohrabi was a 18 years old student who was killed in Tehran by Basij forces, on Saturday (June 20), in the vicinity of his parent's home. According to his sister, he was talented in school and in sports. He was a caring, compassionate and fun boy. He wanted to keep all happy, and despite his youth he made wise decisions.Rooz: Tell us about Ashkan.
Elham Sohrabi (Sohrabi): He was my younger brother, born in 1989, very smart and full of potential for education and sports. He was extremely kind and compassionate. Despite his young age, he made very wise decisions.
Rooz: Where were you on the day of the event?
Sohrabi: My mother and I were at our house. Ashkan had just returned from the gym. He told us people were protesting on the streets and that fires were burning everywhere. He said he had trouble getting home as an
ti-riot guards had closed off all surrounding streets and were dispersing people. My mother asked me not to let Ashkan return to the streets. I tried my best to distract Ashkan with things other than the street, but the crowds on our streets (Azadi) continued to get bigger. People sought refuge in alleys and homes. We heard different chants and the sound of bullets and smell of tear gas were everywhere. I asked Ashkan not to go to the street. But he said his last words to me and left the house: "Don't worry, I'll come back."Rooz: And that is the last time you saw Ashkan?
Sohrabi: Yes. The last time I saw him was when he left the house.
Rooz: When was he martyred?
Sohrabi: I
don't exactly know, but two hours later they brought the news of his death to us.Rooz: Where was he shot?
Sohrabi: They had shot our Ashkan three times in the chest.
Rooz: Who was shooting at Ashkan?
Sohrabi: I did not see Ashkan's killer but the protesters didn't have any weapons. They just threw rocks.
Rooz: Were you easily able to retrieve Ashkan's body from the hospital?
Sohrabi: It's better not to talk about that.
Rooz: Were security forces present at the memorial service?
Sohrabi: Yes, two police cars [were there].
